OH-58 Composite Main Rotor Blade. Preliminary Design Investigation. Volume I. Composite Blade Evaluation.

Abstract

This program was a preliminary design study to evaluate the application of a composite main rotor blade to the Model OH-58C/A helicopter. The first phase of the study was a trade-off analysis in which a basic concept was selected that utilized a spar made of filament-wound glass/epoxy rovings looped around the main retention bold hole bushing. The second phase of the program consisted of a preliminary design of the selected concept and its comparison to the existing (standard) metal blade. (Author, modified-PL).
