Discharge Characteristics of LiAl/NaAlCl sub 4/FeCl sub 3 Thermal Cells.

Abstract

Pelletized thermal battery single cell experiments are described for the lithium-aluminum/sodium tetrachloroaluminate/iron(III) chloride electrochemical system. The cells were optimized for anode, eletrolyte, and cathode composition. The cell discharge behavior was characterized, defining optimum conditions of temperature and discharge rate to produce maximum energy output.
