Electronics for a Rocket Borne Quadrupole Cluster Ion Mass Filter.

Abstract

Electronic circuits have been developed to control a rocket borne quadrupole mass filter intended for measurement of ion clusters. The low altitude instrument was designed to measure negative or positive ions in the high pass or the band pass modes. Its range extended to 255 amu. Digital control of the bias and the quadrupole excitation signals was maintained during the flight through a program stored in an EPROM. A manual control unit which could be substituted for the EPROM provided flexibility during laboratory experimentation and calibration procedures. (Author)
