Procedure for Statistical Analysis of Single Scan Modulation Transfer Functions for Optical Transmission in the Marine Boundary Atmosphere.

Abstract

A computer data reduction system has been reprogrammed to sample individual scan recordings of the line-spread function of laser light propagating through the turbulent marine boundary layer. The distribution of spatial frequencies of the Modulation Transfer Functions from random single scan samples from experimental data sets has been investigated. A preliminary analysis indicates that the zero spatial frequency component of the MTF is log-normal distributed. (Author)
