Production and Evaluation of REFe2-Nickel Composite Magnetostrictive Materials.

Abstract

The objective was to produce a composite magnetostrictive material consisting of particles of the 'giant' magnetostrictive material, SmFe2, distributed within a pure nickel matrix, and to demonstrate a marked enhancement of the magnetostrictive properties of this composite compared to the properties of nickel.
