Synthesis of Polyesters Containing Tetrathiafulvalene Gropus in the Backbone.

Abstract

Studies of highly conducting organic charge-transfer (CT) complexes have attracted enormous recent interest with the development of pseudo-one-dimensional organic metals. In particular, molecular CT complexes of either tetrathiafulvalenes (TTF) or tetraselenafulvalenes (TSeF), with tetracyanoquinodimethane (TCNQ) have been most intensively investigated owing to their quasi-metallic conductivity. The preparation of TTF and TSeF derivatives have been reviewed and new synthetic procedures for preparing unsymmetrical TTF derivatives continue to appear regularly. However, there exists a clear need for such conductors with improved material properties and three dimensional conductivity. One approach to this problem is to prepare multidimensional networks or polymers. (Author)
