A Procedure for Obtaining More Accurate Timing Information for the Sound Ranging Problem.

Abstract

A model for the sound ranging problem is formulated and simplified. A procedure is then given for obtaining more accurate timing information from the received microphone signals. The procedure described consists of four basic parts: (1) a prefiltering operation, (2) a pair by pair correlation, (3) an elimination of inaccurate data, and (4) an overall least square time fit.
