Schedule for the Automatic Cart Transportation System at Wilford Hall Medical Center.

Abstract

This report presents a schedule for use of an automatic cart transportation system that will be installed at the Wilford Hall Medical Center, Lackland AFB. The system will use powered and gravity-feed overhead rails and lifts to automatically distribute carts carrying food and medical materiel throughout the hospital. A schedule of cart dispatches was developed to meet user-specific requirements by means of a computer simulation model. Results of the scheduling/simulation effort show that the system resources are adequate to meet user requirements with some excess capacity. The report presents schedules of cart dispatches and arrivals as well as workload summaries and statistics on utilization of system resources. (Author)
