Investigation of Special Techniques Related to Satellite Communications. Volume 2. Task 2 'mm Wave Technology.'

Abstract

This report described the results of developing a mm Wave Technology baseline for satellite communication systems. This baseline is applicable to a deployment frame from 10 to 15 years and covers the satellite communications bands from 20- to 100-GHz. To project the technology to such a long time span, the state-of-the-art of the mm Wave subsystems, for both the ground and space segments of satellite communication systems, were surveyed. Their limitations were investigated and, where applicable, extrapolations were made to the time frame of interest. (Author)
