Passivation Studies of Iron, Nickel and Their Alloys by 'In situ' Ellipsometry and 'Ex situ' ESCA Techniques.

Abstract

The passivation film on iron has been examined in situ using automatic ellipsometry to obtain the spectral properties. Both structural and mechanistic information has been obtained concerning this film. This represents the first time such spectroscopic information is available. ESCA has been used as a ex situ complementary tool to examine iron and also nickel and their alloys. (Author)
