An Automated Software Maintenance Tool for Large-Scale Operating Systems.

Abstract

A method for automating many of the tasks involved in maintaining a large computer operating system (SCOPE 3.4 on the CDC 6700) is described. The method is embodied in several procedures, each of which aids in one phase of operating system maintenance. These procedures are written in a manner that promotes ease of modification or enhancement. This automated maintenance tool can also be used in other programming applications where a large amount of effort must be expended in noncreative housekeeping tasks. (Author)
