Stable Discrete Adaptive Control,

Abstract

This paper examines the discrete version of the problem recapitulating the basic philosophy as well as the specific technique used for the design of the adaptive controller. The first few sections of this paper have been considerably condensed and the interested reader is referred to the earlier work for all details. The principal contribution made here is the verification of the conjecture regarding the stability of the adaptive loop, for the discrete problem. Accordingly most of the paper is devoted to the proof of stability. These results together with some recent work done on the stability of differential equations with unbounded coefficients may prove helpful in resolving the stability problem of continuous adaptive systems as well.
