Dynamic Elasto-Plastic Analysis of a Simple System.

Abstract

Six design categories were applied to design a three-bar structure connecting two rigid masses. The structure was taken as redundant, made of an elasto-plastic material, and required to resist dynamic loads applied independently from two directions. Weight and deformations of the structures are compared. Two of the categories allow significant reduction in the weight of the structure without producing excessive deformation.
