Infinite Arrays with Nonrigid Interstices.

Abstract

The radiation from an infinite phased planar array of rectangular pistons (all with the same velocity magnitude) in a nonrigid baffle is evaluated. The nonrigid interstices between the array elements are approximated by equivalent undriven pistons with some internal impedance. When the dimensions of the pistons are small compared to a wavelength, simple approximations are obtained for the radiation impedance of an array element and the loss in source level due to the effect of the interstices.
