A Millimeter Wave Attenuation and Depolarization Experiment Using the COMSTAR and CTS Satellites.
Abstract
This report provides the results of a study of attenuation and depolarization of millimeter waves along a satellite-to-earth communication link. Specifically, (1) Detailed analysis attenuation and depolarization data from the CTS (Communications Technology Satellite) satellite downlink beacon at a frequency of 11.7 GHz, and the 19.04 and 28.56 GHz downlink beacons on the COMSTAR satellites, and (2) Development of physical models of rain attenuation and depolarization.
