Semidirect Methods for Discretized Nonlinear Partial Differential Equations, with Particular Applications to Fluid Dynamics.

Abstract

Semidirect methods utilize direct (non-iterative) linear solvers to solve nonlinear problems in a non-time-like iteration. The semidirect methods are applied to various fluid dynamics problems. In each case, the direct linear solver used is some variation of a marching method. (Author)
