DESALE-5: A Comprehensive Scheduled Mixing Model for CW Chemical Lasers.

Abstract

The development and application of a comprehensive model for calculating cw chemical laser performance are described. The effects of mixing through the use of a scheduled mass addition algorithm, extensive modeling of the pertinent chemical reactions, Fabry-Perot optics, nozzle blockage, and nonuniform initial profiles resulting from nozzle boundary layers are given. Illustrative examples are provided to demonstrate the capability of the model to treat these various phenomena. A typical running time on a CDC 7600 is 30 to 60 sec with all of the effect modeled.
