Galerkin and Collocation-Galerkin Methods with Superconvergence and Optimal Fluxes.

Abstract

Finite element methods are formulated and examined for Galerkin and collocation schemes and a mixed collocation-Galerkin finite element method. Superconvergence at special points is investigated and a new method for calculating optimal derivatives such as fluxes or stresses in typical applications is described and implemented for an example problem.
