Flare Models. Chapter 9 of Solar Flares. A Monograph from Skylab Solar Workshop II.

Abstract

By reviewing the properties of solar flares analyzed by each of the seven teams of the Skylab Workshop, a set of 'primary' and 'secondary' requirements of flare models are derived. A number of flare models are described briefly and their properties compared with the primary requirements. It appears that, at this time, each flare model has some strong points and some weak points. It has not yet been demonstrated that any one flare model meets all the proposed requirements. (Author)
