Master Survey of United States Army Records in Federal Records Centers. Report of Examination of Holdings and Findings in 13 Regional GSA Federal Records Centers.

Abstract

This study constitutes a report of actions taken pursuant to completion of Phase III, Master Survey of US Army Records in Federal Records Centers. Phase III is concerned with US Army records retired to the 13 regional GSA Federal Records Centers by operating field commands and agencies. The thrust of Phase III is to regain intellectual control of these records and to remove them eventually from the Army inventory through scheduled disposal, donation, or permanent transfer to the National Archives of the United States. This report has been prepared in 14 parts, i.e., a summary statement followed by individual annexes for each of the 13 regional federal records centers. Each annex includes supporting documentation. The summary statement contains generalizations on the state of Department of the Army holdings in the Regional Federal Records Centers along with overall conclusions and recommendations for maintenance of continuing intellectual control.
