A Proof of the Convexity of the Free Boundary for Porous Flow through a Rectangular Dam Using the Maximum Principle.

Abstract

The steady two-dimensional flow is considered under gravity of water from one reservoir to another reservoir through a porous rectangular isotropic homogeneous dam with impervious bottom. Using the maximum principle, a proof of the convexity of the free boundary is given.
