Molybdenum-Reinforced Aluminum Oxide Single Crystals.
Abstract
Molybdenum wire-reinforced aluminum oxide single crystals have been fabricated by the heat exchanger method of seeded unidirectional solidification. No interfacial reaction products were observed and cathodoluminescent evaluation indicated a good diffusion bond. The major problem seems to be thermal expansion mismatch crack networks around the wire. (Author)
