A Summary of the Results of a Study of Acoustic Interaction with the Sea Floor.

Abstract

This report summarizes the results of research carried out during 1978 on acoustics interaction with the sea floor. Major topics considered are propagation in a range variable environment by mode-mode coupling methods, bottom roughness (scattering) studies, and a number of sensitivity studies including the acoustical effects of sediment rigidity, Doppler broadening due to source motion, and the relationship between mode attenuation and bottom loss per bounce.
