Atmospheric Extinction. I. Synthetic Data.

Abstract

Synthetic data, simulating the effects of atmospheric extinction on GEODSS observations, are presented. Approximate representations for the atmospheric extinction coefficients and for spectral photon distributions are also developed. Together these data are intended for evaluation of the effects of the atmosphere on space object identification data, and for the development and testing of models for correcting atmospheric extinction.
