Oral Manifestations of Tropical Infectious Diseases of Central and South America. Part I. Protozoan and Helminthic Infections.

Abstract

Oral manifestations of tropical infectious diseases are seldom discussed extensively in most current textbooks of oral diagnosis or oral pathology. This paper is the result of a survey of literature in which the oral manifestations of infectious diseases of particular significance to Latin America have been described. In addition to emphasizing the oral manifestations, the major clinical and therapeutic aspects of each disease are also discussed in this two-part paper. Part 1 features protozoal and helminthic diseases and Part II features bacterial and mycotic infections. (Author)
