Histocompatibility Typing.

Abstract

Improvements have been made in HLA-D typing. These improvements include advances in homozygous typing cell typing, primed lymphocyte typing and the utilization of these reagents and methods in parallel test systems. First the efficiency of performing and analyzing homozygous typing cell (HTC) experiments has been increased. Second, additional homozygous typing cells of both known specificity and previously undefined type have been obtained. Several important developments in primed lymphocyte typing (PLT) have been made. Finally the techniques and reagents developed by this contract have led to advances in parallel research areas. Homozygous typing cells and HLA-D typed panel were used to determine the association of certain HLA specificities and level of peripheral blood cytotoxic lymphocytes. The primed lymphocytes technique has been used to identify a new potential role for interferon in clinical transplantation. And homozygous typing cells have been transformed into B-cell lines for use as standard reagents in the identification of B-cell antisera.
