Principles of Work Sample Testing. 1. A Non-Empirical Taxonomy of Test Uses

Abstract

Challenges to classical psychometric theory are examined in the context of a broader range of fundamental, derived, and intuitive measurements in psychology; the challenges include content-referenced testing, latent trait theory, and generalizability. Psychological measurement is classified according to purpose, setting, variables, and methods of measurement. The challenges and the classifications are examined for special implications for work sample testing.
