On the Solution of a Certain Linear Least Squares Fit Problem.

Abstract

This report investigates the difficulties encountered with respect to a certain linear least squares fit problem which arises in the field of holographic interferometry. It was found that the addition of another variable to the equations of this linear least squares fit problem explained these difficulties and provided consistent results. This report also demonstrates the usefulness of Stewart's recently published perturbation bounds for the purpose of error bounding. (Author)
