Investigation of the Interrelationship between Direct, Diffuse, and Total Solar Radiation.

Abstract

This report describes an investigation of the relationship between total solar radiation on a horizontal surface and its direct and diffuse components. It is based on radiation measurements taken in Champaign, IL in 1978. Good agreement was found between the observed data and the SOLMET correlation, which was published after this study was begun. This report recommends use of the SOLMET correlation for solar simulation programs. (Author)
