Mechanical Power System for Aircraft Intermittent Utility Functions.

Abstract

The program reported upon herein is designed to develop a satisfactory method for utilizing flywheel energy in an aircraft control system. To attain this objective, the program will design, fabricate and demonstrate a mechanical power package (MPP) for controlling and powering a high-horsepower utility actuation function. The MPP will consist of a hydraulic motor, a flywheel, an adapter gearbox, a controller, and a screwjack actuator, and will be designed to replace an existing hydraulic actuator. (Author)
