MEP 354 Drive System.

Abstract

Two of the mobile electric power plants currently used in the fleet, the NC-8A and the NC-2A, are to be replaced by a new power plant, MEP 354. This power plant will conform to the latest standard for military aircraft power, MIL-STD-704C. Problems encountered with the drive system of the NC-8A have led to the need for a more reliable and dependable drive system to be incorporated in MEP 354. This report documents the results of a study to ascertain which type of drive system would be most advantageous to include in the new mobile power plant.
