Corrosion Information in NATO Nations.

Abstract

Basically, the purpose of this study is (1) to determine the needs of the NATO aerospace industry and related Government establishments for technical data relevant to corrosion principles, material behavior in hostile environments, corrosion prevention, etc.; (2) to determine what national and international resources exist that could be responsive to these needs and what were the facilities for collecting, analyzing, coding, storing and retrieving the desired information; and (3) to suggest approaches to filling identified gaps and unsatisfied needs. The study was limited to generic types of information needed and the mechanics of transferring this information. Excluded were the study of specific and detailed technical corrosion problems and remedies and, for example, the identification and description of extant research projects, except in special cases.
