Estimation of Computer Requirements for a Detection Technique Based on Sequential Hypothesis Testing.

Abstract

The computer storage and execution time requirements necessary to implement a detection and tracking technique based on sequential hypothesis testing have been examined. Mathematical expressions which relate these requirements to sonar system parameters and the detection algorithm parameters are derived. It is shown that the technique can be implemented on modest, state-of-the-art digital computers. In addition, future studies designed to increase the shipboard utility of the detection and tracking technique are discussed. (Author)
