Naval Personnel Supply - Report of a Workshop Held at Springfield, Virginia on 7-8 May 1979.

Abstract

The report summarizes a two-day workshop, sponsored by the Office of Naval Research, that dealt with the supply of personnel to the Navy and Marine Corps. Deputy Assistant Secretaries of the Department of Defense and the Navy provided their perspectives. Seven formal presentations covered these areas: research and development on personnel supply models; population trends and their effects on labor market participation; how earnings and population co-vary; to relationship of recruiting resources to enlistments; individual career choice; industrial human resources planning practices; the analysis of factors influencing naval personnel supply. Conclusions and recommendations coming out of small discussion groups are summarized. (Author)
