Development of a Synoptic Climatology of Tropospheric Refractive Conditions for the Eastern Pacific Ocean off the West Coast of the United States. Task Three: The Assessment of Refractive Structures from Typical Synoptic Patterns.

Abstract

The work required to develop a synoptic climatology of refractive conditions which significantly affect the tropospheric propagation of electromagnetic waves off the west coast of the United States is to be carried out under three tasks. This Report, for Task Three, describes methods and techniques developed and utilized by associating synoptic patterns and synoptic parameters with refractive conditions for the area 29 deg N-51 deg N, 120 deg W-140 deg W.
