Pulser for Vertically Polarized Dipole Facility (VPD-II).

Abstract

This report will provide an outline of the pulser system design features and will give an account of both the factory and site acceptance test procedures and results. During the testing periods certain modifications were found to be necessary in order to improve the performance. These modifications are described. Ultimately, a performance limitation was realized when the pulser was operated into the full VPD-II antenna structure, a limitation which could not be removed without a major redesign of the output peaking circuit. This will be discussed in the report summary and some tentative suggestions for a future-up-grading will be offered.
