The Impact of Alternative Maintenance Philosophies upon Inventory Management

Abstract

The U.S. Navy is planning to enter the 21st Century with a large new class of surface combatments which are to be maintained in a manner significantly different from previous procedures. This thesis, through the use of a simulator, will investigate the possible impact of those new maintenance procedures upon aggregate inventory levels. The relevant inventory aspects considered are average inventory level, completion activity and crisis response.
