Abstract
This report identifies the construction industry as an entity in the sociocultural realm and develops a perspective of it by: describing it in general; developing of it a notational physical structure and form; identifying the purpose for which it and its component entities exist; describing parameters that may be used to assess the degree to which it and its entities fulfill their purpose; identifying it and its component resource requirements and the outputs expected of them; and examining its ability to monitor and adapt in response to internal and external influences.
