Automatic Microcircuit Bridge and Autobalancing Unit.

Abstract

This report summarizes the design and test of a Microcricuit Bridge and Balancing Unit to be used in a precision measurement of quartz crystal resonators. Design goals for the Bridge and Balancing Unit were to measure resistance with a 5% accuracy and capacitance with a + or - 0.1 pF accuracy from .8 to 220 MHz and at temperatures from -50 C to +105 C. The autobalance Unit will perform initial balance, final balance, and plus/minus susceptance offset on command. Based on the measured data, it will be possible to calculate the Q of the crystal resonator being tested.
