Complexity and Complexity Change in a Large Applications Program.

Abstract

This report describes an investigation into the complexity of a single large banking application program, and into the changes in complexity which have occurred as result of the maintenance process. The program, which is written in Algol, was developed to run as middleware on Burroughs computers. It has been in use for the last 5 years, during which time it has grown from a size of 36K source lines to 64K source lines by series of 13 releases, planned to occur at regular intervals. (Author)
