Target Selection Assumptions and Their Effect on an Assessment Equation

Abstract

This paper compares two distinct assumptions of the technique that an individual gunner might follow in target selection and the assessment of the effectiveness of several gunners. These two assumptions are: Targets are selected at random with replacement after each engagement, or targets are selected at random without replacement after each engagement. The first assumption leads to a widely used assessment equation.
