The Effect of Seawater on Polymers.

Abstract

The extent of interaction between a fluid and a polymer is monitored by changes in weight, dimension, and hardness. Results of the measurements reports reported here show that the type of interactions are dependent upon the specific material. Some materials undergo a simple diffusion process, while others interact in a complex manner, with several processes occurring simultaneously. Those materials that exhibit complex behavior require further study with appropriate end-use tests. (Author)
