Abstract

This report provides information and analysis on the physical condition of the dam as of the report date. Information and analysis are based on visual inspection of the dam by the performing organization. Examination of available documents and a visual inspection of the dam did not reveal conditions which constitute an immediate hazard to human life or property. However, additonal studies should be undertaken to further evaluate conditions affecting the dam. (1) Within one year of notification, complete the following investigations: (a) Perform a detailed investigation of the cracked and eroded concrete wall at the eastern portion of the intake structure which forms the western spillway abutment; and (b) Perform investigations to determine the effect of the deteriorated spillway surface concrete on the structural stability of the dam. (2) The following improvement needs have been investigated: (a) Repair the western abutment wall at the eastern portion of the intake structure that has been identified as severely eroded and cracked; (b) Repair the spillway surface which is severely eroded on the downstream face of the dam; (c) Repair the mechanical equipment supports, particularly those adjacent to the spillway abutment; and (d) Repair or verify the structural integrity of the lock walls, particularly where they affect the integrity of the dam abutment.
