Outlet Plunge Pool and Fishway Approach Elk Creek Dam, Rogue River Basin, Oregon. Hydraulic Model Investigation.

Abstract

Flow conditions in the plunge pool of the regulating outlet flip bucket and the adjacent fishway approach channel were studied in a 1:40-scale model. The flip bucket and plunge pool were satisfactory and would be an effective fish barrier. The fishway approach channel and entrance on the right bank were not satisfactory. Preliminary tests indicated that a fishway entrance at the right edge of the plunge area and attraction flow leads in the base of the bucket would be effective. (Author)
