Absentee Voting among Military Personnel and Federal Civilian Employees: Findings from the 1978 Post-Election Voting Survey and a Survey of Unit Voting Officers.

Abstract

This report describes the results of the 1978 Post-Election Voting Survey (Form A) and a Survey of Unit Voting Officers. Military personnel and Federal civilian employees were asked about their absentee voting experiences and sources of information and assistance. Those who did not vote were asked about their reasons for not voting. In a separate survey, Unit Voting Officers were asked about their training, the kinds of assistance requested, the number of people they assisted, problems encountered, and their suggestions for improving the Federal Voting Assistance Program.
