Absentee Voting among Privately-Employed U.S. Citizens Living Overseas: Findings from the 1978 Post-Election Voting Survey (Form B).

Abstract

This report describes the findings of the 1978 Post-Election Voting Survey (Form B). Questionnaires were mailed to a sample of privately-employed U.S. citizens who live overseas. The questions concerned absentee voting experiences in the 1978 general election, interest in the election, sources of information and assistance, and, for those who did not vote, reasons for not voting. Of the 1,677 persons who responded to the survey, only 5.4 percent cast ballots in the 1978 election. The most frequently cited reason for not voting was lack of information on absentee voting procedures. (Author)
