Navy Environment: Health Effects of Asbestos Exposure Among Pearl Harbor Naval Shipyard Workers

Abstract

A major effort was made to complete the collection of smoking history data from both present and past shipyard workers. Such data are essential if we are to truly assess lung cancer risks attributable to asbestos exposure alone. The smoking histories were obtained by means of a questionnaire (Appendix B) which was administered to each man whom we identified as alive and residing in Hawaii on January 1, 1977.
