Combat Operations Training Effectiveness Analysis Model: 1979 Perspective

Abstract

The Army Research Institute has been involved in a systematic program of research on unit evaluation. The goal of this research is to develop a criterion-referenced system for evaluation of unit tactical performance. A model for an evaluation system is develop using the current ARTEP evaluation system as a starting point. The model also provides (a) a realistic simulated combat environment, in which units perform tactical operations and objective performance data can be obtained; (b) procedures for defining standards against which unit performance can be compared; and (c) techniques by which training deficiencies and training level/combat readiness can be assessed.
