Generalized Packages for Analysis of Variance and Categorical Data

Abstract

This paper groups (a) analysis of variance and (b) categorical data problems into several classes and then describes general software packages that can analyze all classes of problems that have been defined. The strengths and weaknesses of a variety of software packages are compared in terms of the classes of problems they can handle and the ease with which they can be used. A method for analyzing unbalanced split-plot designs with current available software is described.
