Infrared Emission Spectroscopy of Low Pressure Gaseous Discharges. II.

Abstract

This report summarizes a survey study aimed at improving our understanding of the physical processes which control the infrared radiation in the upper atmosphere. The experiment is conducted to generate various infrared bands of the atmospheric species in our large discharge chamber. Interpretations are given for the observed data by identifying the species involved and determining their parameters in terms of the atomic or molecular transitions. (Author)
